Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Geode Cookies
  1. Cream the butter and sugar together for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and milk to the creamed mixture, mixing on low until just combined.
  3. Whisk together flour and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually combine with wet ingredients.
  4. Divide the dough into three parts, color one part with purple and another with black food coloring.
  5. Roll the black dough into a rectangle, layer white and purple dough on top, and roll into a log.
  6. Chill the dough in plastic wrap for at least 1 hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Slice the chilled log into 1/4-inch thick pieces and arrange on baking sheets.
  9. Sprinkle additional purple sprinkles into each cookie slice before baking.
  10. Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned, then cool for 10 minutes on the sheet.
