Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Dissolve sea salt into lukewarm water in a mixing bowl.
  3. Gradually add pre-cooked cornmeal into the water, mixing gently to avoid lumps.
  4. Knead the dough in the bowl for about 4-5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rest for about 10 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into four portions, roll into balls, and flatten into discs.
  7. Heat oil in a skillet, fry arepas for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden-brown.
  8. Transfer to the baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes until they puff and are golden.
  9. Cool slightly before serving and slice open to fill with your favorite ingredients.
