- In a medium saucepan, combine cocoa powder, coffee, whiskey, and butter over low heat.
- Once combined, add granulated and brown sugar, mixing until dissolved. Allow to cool.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, pepper, and cloves.
- Whisk in eggs and vanilla extract to the cooled chocolate mixture until smooth.
- Fold dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture and add dark chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 1 hour, checking after 45 minutes.
- For the ganache, melt chocolate chips, cream, and whiskey over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- After the cake cools, pour the ganache over it, letting it drip down the sides.
