Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then mix in salt and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add flour, stirring until the mixture forms a crumbly yet cohesive dough.
- Press the dough into the prepared baking pan to about ½ inch thickness.
- Dock the dough by pricking it 36 times with a fork and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and fragrant.
- Cool the pan for 5 minutes, slice into rectangles, and allow to cool completely.
