Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Topping
  • ¼ cup melted butter for brushing
  • 1 cup grated cheese cheddar or queso de bolsa
  • ¼ cup sugar for dusting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather all ingredients: all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, instant yeast, warm milk, unsalted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  2. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, instant yeast, and sugar; allow to sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat together eggs, melted butter, and vanilla; blend in the frothy yeast mixture.
  5. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a shaggy dough forms; knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  7. Punch down the dough, divide it into 12 portions, roll into strips, and coil into spirals; place in greased molds.
  8. Let the shaped dough rise for 30-45 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  11. Cool for 10 minutes in molds, then transfer to a rack.
  12. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with cheese and sugar, and enjoy!
