Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Stir gently until the butter is completely melted and starts to sizzle slightly, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add ¾ cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to the melted butter. Whisk continuously for 3-5 minutes, until smooth and bubbly.
  3. Peel and quarter 2 ripe bananas. Fold the banana pieces into the bubbling caramel sauce and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and slowly add ¼ cup of rum (or 1 teaspoon of rum extract). Ignite the rum carefully for about 30-60 seconds.
  5. Scoop creamy vanilla ice cream into serving bowls. Pour the warm banana mixture generously over each scoop.
