Preparation Steps
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese, heavy cream, milk, salt, and vanilla extract. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  2. Transfer the mixture into an airtight container and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  3. While chilling, prepare the caramel swirl by warming store-bought caramel sauce or making homemade caramel.
  4. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Transfer half of the ice cream base to a loaf pan, drizzle half of the caramel sauce, then add the remaining ice cream and more caramel sauce. Swirl gently.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.
  7. Scoop and serve, adding extra caramel and sea salt if desired.
