Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup Olive Oil Can substitute with almond oil or jojoba oil.
  • 5 tablespoons Shea Butter Cocoa butter or mango butter can substitute in a 1:1 ratio.
  • 2 tablespoons Beeswax For a vegan option, use candelilla wax.
Magnesium Component
  • 1 cup Magnesium Chloride Brine Make from magnesium flakes dissolved in water or purchase it ready-made.
Fragrance (Optional)
  • 96 drops Essential Oils Lavender is recommended for additional calming properties.

Equipment

  • Heat-safe pitcher
  • Saucepan
  • food processor

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Measure out ¾ cup of olive oil, 5 tablespoons of shea butter, and 2 tablespoons of beeswax. Place these ingredients into a heat-safe pitcher.
  2. Create a double boiler by filling a saucepan with water and bringing it to a gentle simmer. Place the heat-safe pitcher in the saucepan, allowing the steam to gently heat and melt the ingredients for about 10–15 minutes.
  3. Once melted, carefully remove the pitcher from heat and transfer the warm mixture into a food processor. Blend the mixture on medium speed for about 1 minute.
  4. While the processor is running, slowly pour in 1 cup of magnesium chloride brine. Continue blending for an additional minute.
  5. If using essential oils, sprinkle in your selected oils while blending. Blend for another minute to fully integrate.
  6. Carefully pour the finished lotion into clean glass jars and allow them to cool completely at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  7. Once cooled, securely seal each jar with a lid and store in a cool, dark place.
