  1. Combine about 4 cups of peeled and diced ripe pears, sugar, a split and scraped vanilla bean (or pure vanilla extract), lemon juice, and ground cinnamon in a large pot. Add ¼ cup of water and stir everything together.
  2. Place the pot over medium-low heat and allow the mixture to gently simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally until the pears soften.
  3. Remove the vanilla bean pod if used and blend the mixture until smooth using an immersion blender.
  4. Return the smooth mixture to the pot and cook over low heat for an additional 20-30 minutes until it thickens to a buttery consistency.
  5. Let the Pear Vanilla Butter cool slightly, then transfer it to clean jars for storage.
