Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Cereal: Measure 9 cups of Chex cereal and place it into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Melt the Chocolate Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, ½ cup of smooth peanut butter, and ¼ cup of butter. Stir over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Add Vanilla and Cool: Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Let the mixture cool for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Coat the Cereal: Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal in three stages and gently fold with a spatula.
  5. Sugar Coating: Combine 2 cups of powdered sugar and 1 cup of festive sanding sugar in an airtight bag. Add the cereal in small portions and shake to coat.
  6. Spread and Chill: Spread the mixture onto a wax paper-lined baking sheet and chill for about an hour.
  7. Store Properly: After setting, break apart clumps and store in an airtight container.
