Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it with butter.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until well combined. Add in the large eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth. Gradually incorporate all-purpose flour and salt.
- Set aside 1/4 cup of the brownie batter, spread the remaining batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. In a separate bowl, beat together cream cheese, additional sugar, and egg yolk until creamy. Pour this cheesecake mixture over the brownie layer.
- Dollop the reserved brownie batter over the cheesecake layer and swirl the two layers together using a toothpick or knife.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
- Lift the brownies out of the pan using parchment paper and slice with a sharp, warm knife.
