  • 2 tablespoons Black Tea Leaves Assam or Darjeeling recommended
  • 1 cup Milk Whole, almond, or oat milk
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar Adjust to taste
Spice Mix
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves Adjust for personal preference
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger Fresh ginger enhances the flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper Use sparingly
Whipped Topping
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream For topping
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon Reserved Spice Mix From spice mix above

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a small bowl, combine ground cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, and black pepper to create the spice blend. Reserve 1/4 teaspoon for the whipped cream.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water, black tea leaves, brown sugar, and the majority of the spice mixture. Heat over medium until simmering, about 5 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to low and stir in milk. Steep for 5 minutes, ensuring it does not boil.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into mugs, leaving behind tea leaves and spice remnants.
  5. In a chilled bowl, whisk together heavy cream, honey, and reserved spice mix until soft peaks form.
  6. Dollop spiced whipped cream on each cup of Christmas Chai Latte. Optionally sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg on top.
