Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather your large baking dish and prepare all the ingredients.
  2. In your large baking dish, combine chopped onion, carrots, celery, wild rice, and chicken broth. Stir well. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  3. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add flour, salt, and poultry seasoning, cooking until golden and fragrant. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened.
  4. Melt the remaining 6 tablespoons of butter in a small bowl. Toss cubed bread in melted butter and set aside.
  5. After the rice mixture is done baking, remove foil. Stir in raw chicken pieces and creamy sauce. Mix until well combined and sprinkle with buttered bread cubes.
  6. Increase oven temperature to 450°F (232°C) and bake uncovered for 20-30 minutes until chicken is fully cooked and topping is golden brown.
