Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and continue cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it apart and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked.
  5. Stir in 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and cook for about a minute.
  6. Add 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and optional red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, cook 1 package of gnocchi according to package instructions (about 2-3 minutes in boiling water). Drain and set aside.
  8. In a large baking dish, combine the gnocchi with the bolognese sauce. Top generously with mozzarella and sprinkle with Parmesan.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and golden.
  10. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then garnish with freshly chopped parsley or basil before serving.
